Board of Education Meeting - Sep 25 2024 Minutes 7:00 PM Admin Building Board Room #2 Mark Twain Circle Clayton, MO 63105 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. 1.1 Statement of Adequate Notice, Pledge of Allegiance Adequate Notice has been provided. The Board of Education will recite the Pledge of Allegiance. 1.2 Adoption of Agenda Approve the agenda as posted. Recognizing Our Own 2.1 Recognition - DJ Burks The Board of Education recognized DJ Burks for his contribution to the high school athletic department. DJ's school spirit has inspired other students to begin a wait list to assist in the athletic department. 3. Public Comment 3.1 Public Participation at Board Meetings Ben Koster, Senior at CHS, addressed the members of the Board regarding the cell phone restriction at the high school. Joe Major, Senior at CHS, spoke to the Board members about the cell phone ban at the high school. 4. Superintendent Communications 4.1 Superintendent Communications Dr. Patel, Superintendent, provided an update to the members of the Board and the community. 2 5. Presentations 5.1 Special School District Partnership Agreement DESCRIPTION: The Board of Education is being asked to support the continuing partnership between the School District of Clayton and the Special School District (SSD) of St. Louis County in providing special education services. The partnership agreement is a commitment by both districts to a collaborative model with expectations in seven categories including: Staffing, Teaching, Learning, & Accountability/Professional Development, Collaboration of Responsibilities and Resources, Student Services, Data and Technology, Transportation, and Career and Technical Education. Action Items 6.1 2024 Property Tax Rate DESCRIPTION: Each year, property tax rates are required to be established in accordance with Missouri statutes using assessed valuation data supplied by the St. Louis County Assessor’s Office. Post Board of Equalization assessed valuation data available as of September 13, 2024 was utilized to prepare the 2024 tax rate calculations. All data and calculations are reviewed by the State Auditor’s Office for accuracy and compliance with statutes. The Board unanimously approved a similar resolution in June 2022. Documentation concerning these items has been provided to all Board members and the public in advance to assure an extensive and thorough review.
