Board Update – Sept. 2

Board Update – Sept. 2 Planning and design work continues to move forward on several major construction projects across the District, including projects funded through Proposition O as well as additional capital improvements. At its Sept. 2 meeting, the Board of Education received an update from the District’s design teams and BSI Constructors, the District’s construction manager, on the progress of several projects. The projects remain on schedule and within budget. Read on for the latest updates. Glenridge Elementary School and Bridge Campus : Paragon Architecture and Perkins+Will have completed schematic design for the full renovation of Glenridge Elementary School and are now moving the project through design development. Construction is on track to begin in summer 2027, with the goal of reopening Glenridge in 2029, ahead of the school’s 100th anniversary. While Glenridge is under construction, students and staff will continue learning at a temporary Bridge Campus . The District is currently in discussions with Washington University in St. Louis regarding the potential use of the former Fontbonne University campus. Although an agreement has not yet been finalized, the District is continuing to plan for the potential use of the site, including classroom layouts, transportation and other campus needs. Clayton High School: Paragon and Perkins+Will have completed schematic design for the new Learning Lab and are nearing completion of the documents needed to pursue competitive bidding. Construction is expected to begin in December 2026 and take approximately 12–15 months to complete. Once finished, the Learning Lab will provide dedicated space for science, technology, engineering and mathematics courses, including robotics, AMPED on Algebra and Geometry in Construction. In addition to the Prop O-funded Learning Lab, planning is underway to modernize the performing arts area at CHS. This project includes replacing the auditorium seating, upgrading lighting, adding an ADA lift to improve stage access and renovating the nearby restrooms. Athletic Facility Improvements: BLDD Architects have developed schematic designs for several athletic facility projects across the District. At Gay Field, funds from Prop O will allow the District to complete necessary upgrades including renovating the field house, constructing a new concession stand and press box, replacing the spectator seating and adding additional parking spaces. BLDD is also developing designs for additional athletic improvements, including a new press box and dugouts at Adzick Field, improvements to the athletic field at Wydown Middle School and a new multi-use play surface at Captain Elementary School. BSI Constructors continues working with the design team to refine project costs and timelines as the plans progress. Additional details are available in the presentation or by watching a recording of the meeting . For questions about the projects, please contact Communications .
