Summary Effective with the 2024-2025 school year, Chartwells was contracted to manage food service throughout the District. The contract provided for an initial year plus four option years. The 2026-2027 year represents the third year of the contract.
Description of Agenda Item The 2026-2027 option year is recommended for approval. In accordance with the terms of the contract, the fees (administrative and management) are adjusted for inflation. For 2025-2026, the administrative fee will be $0.2694 per meal (previously $0.2595) and the management fee will be $0.0322 per meal (previously $0.311). The state mandated meal equivalent factor for a-la-carte sales will be $5.11 (previously $5.16). All other terms of the contract remain unchanged.
The fee increases are based upon the “food away from home” factor within the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Based upon March 2026 data, this factor shows an increase of 3.8%.
