1. Business Meeting – 7:00 p.m. 
Information: 1.01 Adequate Notice/Call to Order 
The meeting was called to order at  
7:00 p.m. 
 
2. Adoption of Agenda 
Action: 2.01 Adoption of Agenda 
Adopt the agenda as posted.

3. Recognizing Our Own 
Information: 3.01 2023 Promising Practice - Captain Elementary School 
Dr. Jennifer Martin, Principal of Ralph M. Captain Elementary School, along with a team of educators from Captain Elementary 
(Christine Anthes, Crystal Taylor, Chris Hwande, and Patrick Ward), spoke of the Promising Practice Award that the school received. 
The Promising Practice Award is a National Award that was given by the Character.org group to Ralph M. Captain Elementary 
Captain's Connection Crews. 
 
4. Public Comment 
Information: 4.01 Public Participation at Board Meetings 
Sarah Turley – Ms. Turley expressed her concerns regarding the sound of the new scoreboard at Gay Field. 
Josh Moyer – Mr. Moyer addressed the board with concerns regarding the sound of the new scoreboard at Gay Field. 
Crystal Taylor – Ms. Taylor shared praise for the Quest program at the high school with the board members. 
Michael and Rachel Shapiro – Mr. Shapiro shared his son’s positive experience with the Special School District with the board 
members. 
Julie Sandler – Ms. Sandler provided information regarding her positive experience with the Special School District. 
Adrienne Kuehn – Mr. Kuehn is a Special Education teacher at Clayton High School and shared positive interactions with his students 
with the board members. 
Stacy Simmons – Ms. Simmons shared her positive experience with the Special School District with the board members.

Kate Pavlisin – Ms. Pavlisin is the Special School District Instructional Coach at Clayton High School. She works with the SSD teachers 
across the district and shared information regarding the collaborative work she is doing with the board members.  
Zachary Hamdy- Mr. Hamdy is a 2023 Clayton graduate. He shared his positive experience as a student in the Special School District 
Quest program with the board members.  
 
 
5. Superintendent Communications 
Information: 5.01 Superintendent Communications 
Superintendent, Dr. Nisha Patel, provided an update to the board members and the community. 
 
 
6. Student Representative to the Board 
Information: 6.01 Student Representative to the Board of Education - Update 
Student Representative, Mohini Mahajan, provided an update to the board members regarding current topics and issues with 
students in the district. 
 
 
7. Presentation 
Information: 7.01 2023-2024 Special School District Partnership Update 
Board members received an update regarding the revisions that have been made to the partnership agreement between the Special 
School District and the School District of Clayton. 
 
 
8. Consent Items

That the Board of Education approve the consent agenda.

9. Board Communications 
Information: 9.01 Board Calendar, Committee, Community and Liaison Reports 
Gary Pierson provided an update regarding the Parks and Recreation meeting and the ST Louis Board of Education Professional 
Learning Committee’s first Legislative Advocacy meeting.  
Stacy Siwak shared her experience with the school walk-throughs she attended with fellow board members and the superintendent. 
She also spoke of the students experience with Jekyll Island (8th grade) at Wydown Middle School. 
Chris Win spoke of the Orchestra concert and the strings program. She spoke of the great arts program in the district.
