1. Call to Order
Information, Procedural: 1.01 Statement of Adequate Notice
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. and was held via the virtual platform Zoom due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Kimberly Hurst was absent at the start of the meeting.
2. Information/Discussion
Information/Discussion: 2.01 Legislation Impacting Education
Senator Brian Williams and Representative Ian Mackey were present to discuss recent legislation presented regarding open enrollment,
virtual instruction, charter school funding, tax vouchers and other related issues.
Senator Williams and Representative Mackey attended the meeting from 7:03 - 7:55 p.m.
Kimberly Hurst joined the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
3. Recognizing Our Own
Information: 3.01 National School Counseling Week - February 1-5, 2021
Dr. Robyn Wiens, assistant superintendent of student services, and Dr. Sean Doherty, superintendent, recognized our counselors for
National School Counseling Week. Counselors Toby Smith, Anthony Henderson, Tobie Smith and Homer Turner were in attendance at
the meeting from 7:55 p.m. - 8:01 p.m.
Information: 3.02 School Board Recognition Week - February 14 - 20, 2021
Superintendent, Dr. Sean Doherty, recognized each of the board members individually for MO School Board Recognition Week and
thanked them for their service to our school district.
4. Superintendent Communications
Information: 4.01 Superintendent Communications
Dr. Sean Doherty, superintendent, provided an update to the community regarding conversations at Wydown Middle School about a
possible return to school full time, the vaccine update and the current status of our district data around quarantines and positive cases,
Black History Month, the parent speaker series, and Wydown Middle School being nominated as a National Blue Ribbon School. He also
provided an update on the superintendent transition.

5. Student Representative to the Board
Information: 5.01 Student Representative to the Board of Education - Update
Kaitlyn Tran, student representative to the Board of Education, spoke about how students like the block schedule, working with online
schools teachers using microphones is very helpful, Black History Month, student panels with equity and inclusion being developed, and
updates on clubs and various classes
6. Information
Information: 6.01 Equity - 14 Day Equity Challenge
Cameron Poole, director of equity and inclusion, informed the Board about the 14 day equity challenge that starts on Friday. Each
school will be participating in the challenge within their building, collaborating with cohort groups and discussing their thoughts at an
upcoming professional development meeting.
7. Action Items
Action: 7.01 Resolution - COVID-19 Leave
That the School District of Clayton Board of Education approve the Resolution on COVID-19 Leave as submitted.

That the Board of Education adopt, for the 2021-2022 school year, an elementary personal and tax credit tuition rate of $17,800 and
secondary personal and tax credit tuition rate of $23,750.

8. Public Comment
Information: 8.01 Public Participation at Board Meetings
There were three public comments presented by Betsy Meyland-Smith about Black History Month, Amber Kempf on work with equity
within our district and Jenna Schaumburg commented on Captain Elementary and Ms. King.
9. Board Communications
Information: 9.01 Board Calendar, Committee, Community and Liaison Reports
David Gulick spoke about the PTO Council focus on fundraising for students, changes in spirit wear, buzz book, PTOs still maintaining
regular schedules, and new officers being selected to serve on PTOs.
Amy Rubin spoke regarding the CRSWC finance committee meeting with capital updates on the roof over the pool area, no Summer
Quest this summer and discussion for the Center of Clayton to possibly take over the Summer Quest responsibilities next summer.
Gary Pierson reported the Clayton Parks and Recreation meeting provided an update on the planned renovation on playgrounds in
Shaw Park.
