Business Meeting - 7:00 p.m. Information: Procedural: 1.01 Call to Order The business meeting of the School District of Clayton Board of Education was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Action: 1.02 Adoption of Agenda — February 15, 2023 To approve the business meeting agenda for February 15, 2023. Recognizing Our Own Information: 2.01 Bus Driver Appreciation Board members recognized bus drivers of the School District of Clayton, Special School District, and Voluntary lnterdistrict Choice Cooperative. 3. Public Comment Information: 3.01 Public Participation at Board Meetings Susanne Whitman: Ms. Whitman addressed the board members regarding literacy, SB681, and reading success plans. Frank Hackmann: Mr. Hackmann paid tribute to former teacher, Alma Dulz, who taught 6th grade. KimSmith: Ms. Smith expressed her concerns regarding literacy and dyslexia education. 4. Superintendent Communications Information: 4.01 Superintendent Communications Dr. Patel provided an update of current events and activities across the district. 5. Student Representative to the Board Information: 5.01 Student Representative to the Board of Education - Update Student Representative, Carter Davis, provided an update from the student body to the Board members and administration. Presentation Information: 6.01 Annual Assessment Report Board members received informaiton regarding the annual assessment report from Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning, Dr. Milena Garganigo, and the building principals (Dr. Dan Gutchewsky — Clayton High School, Dr. Doug Wehner — Wydown Middle School, Dr. Jennifer Martin — Ralph M. Captain Elementary School, and Dr. Patrick Fisher — Meramec Elementary School. 7. Policy Information: 7.01 1st Reading - Policy JHG - Reporting and Investigating Child Abuse and Neglect The Board of Education received the first reading of Policy JHG — Reporting and Investigating ChildAbuse and Neglect. Information: 7.02 1st Reading - Policy GBLB- References The Board of Education received the first reading of Policy GBLB — References 8. Action Items Action: 8.01 2nd Reading - Policy JFGA - Interviews with or Removal of Students It is recommended that the Board approve Policy JFGAwith the proposed changes. Board Communications Information: 11.01 Board Calendar, Committee, Community and Liaison Reports Ms. Stacy Siwak spoke about the Legislative Advocacy Zoom meeting and encouraged other board members to join the next session. Ms. Siwak informed the other members of the upcoming MSBA Legislative Advocacy Day and provided a report from the Teaching & Learning Advisory Council meeting. Ms. Chris Win spoke of the CDC report regarding teen mental health and encouraged the board members and administration to review the report. 12.
