Information, Procedural: 1.01 Callto Order The School District of Clayton Board of Education business meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. and held in the Administrative Building boardroom at 2 Mark Twain Circle, Clayton, MO 63105. Jason Wilson was not in attendance at the start of the meeting. Action: 1.02 Approval of Agenda - October 26, 2022 To approve the business meeting agenda for October 26, 2022 Motion by Stacy Siwak, second by Gary Pierson. Recognizing Our Own Information: 2.01 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award - Frankie Synovec Jason Wilson arrived at 7:01 p.m. Wydown Middle School principal, Dr. Jamie Jordan, presented Ms. Frankie Synovec, the Gifted Specialist for Secondary Education, to the Board for recognition. Ms. Synovec was selected as the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award for this year to represent our district. 3. Superintendent Communications Information: 4.01 Resolution for Gun Safety Legislation This agenda item was added to the agenda within 24 hours of notice as Board members wanted to update the district gun safety legislation resolution due to the recent shooting in St. Louis at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. Information: 4.02 Superintendent Communications Superintendent, Dr. Nisha Patel, spoke about the recent shooting in St. Louis at the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School and briefed the Board on the safety measures in place within our district. 5. Student Representative to the Board Information: 5.01 Student Representative to the Board of Education - Update Carter Davis, Student Representative to the Board of Education, updated the Board and community on the thoughts of the students following this week’s shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. 6. Study Item Information: 6.01 Goal 1: A Place for Everyone Cameron Poole, Chief Equity Officer, and Jenny Todd, Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion / Glenridge School Counselor, presented an update on Goal 1: A Place for Everyone in regard to equity and inclusion. 7. Action Items Action: 7.01 Capital Improvement Projects Authorize District staffto proceed with engaging design services for the projects as presented with a goal ofconstructing these projects during the 2023 construction season.
