Business Meeting - 7:00 p.m. Information, Procedural: 2.01 Callto Order The meeting was called to order at 7:08 p.m. and held in the boardroom at the School District of Clayton Administrative Center, 2 Mark Twain Circle, Clayton, MO 63105. Recognizing Our Own Information: 3.01 Disability History and Awareness Month Dr. Cameron Poole, Chief Equity Officer, introduced our parent president of PAC.ED, Christina Blankenship, to recognize Disability History and Awareness Month for October in the State of Missouri. To commemorate this month, Clayton High School student, Holly Connor, read the braille proclamation from the state via Zoom. Information: 3.02 John, Fran and Emma Lizzo John and Fran Lizzo and their dog, Emma, were recognized for their years of service to the Glenridge Elementary School where Emma has sat with the students while they read to her. Student Representative to the Board Information: 5.01 Student Representative to the Board of Education - Update Student Representative to the Board of Education, Carter Davis, provided an update to the Board regarding current events in the schools. 6. Study Items Information: 6.01 Grading Practices - Secondary Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Milena Garganigo, Principal of Clayton High School, Dr. Dan Gutchewsky, Principal of Wydown Middle School, Dr. Jamie Jordan, Coordinator of Professional Development, Ms. Janet Crews, and Science teacher at Clayton High School, Mr. Craig Sucher, briefed the board members about the changes to the grading practices for secondary schools. 7. Public Comment Information: 10.01 Public Participation at Board Meetings Four public comments were presented to the board: Ian Mackay spoke about the banning of books. Rene Freels spoke about transgender youth in need of support. Kyle Freels spoke about transgender rights and removing the ban on recently banned books. Stacey Newman spoke about the banning of books. 11. Board Communications Information: 11.01 Board Calendar, Committee, Community and Liaison Reports Board members updated the community on their various committees.
