The joint meeting between the City of Clayton Board of Aldermen and the School District of Clayton Board of Education was called to
order at 6:32 p.m. Board member, Steve Singer, was absent from this meeting.

Mayor Michelle Harris introduced the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) 2021-2022 led by their Community Advisor, Jenny

Information, Discussion: 3.01 CRSWC Annual Update/Budget Fiscal Year 2021-2022
Ms. Patty DeForrest, Director of Parks and Recreation, from the Clayton Recreation Sports and Wellness Commission provided the
annual update to our Board of Education on our joint budget with the City of Clayton.

That the Board of Education will adjourn the joint meeting of the Board of Education and Board of Alderman to enter into the business

The business meeting of the Board of Education was called to order at 7:41 p.m.
6. Superintendent Communications
Information: 6.01 Superintendent Communications
Dr. Patel’s communicated the following topics to the Board and community: Wydown Middle School was named a Gold Star School. Dr.
Margie Vandeven, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Commissioner, was present for the announcement at
Wydown. Dr. Patel also reported on the first week of school, the focus on professional learning communities for all teachers, the
professional development opportunities offered to all staff, as well as recommendations for COVID measures and mitigating factors.
7. Student Representative to the Board
Information: 7.01 Student Representative to the Board of Education
Our student representative, Aitana Rosas Linhard, reported on the following topics to the Board: The start of school is going smoothly,
mitigating measures are in place, QR codes are at lunch tables for contact tracing, tents are placed outside for students in the quad to
sit and eat lunch, elementary school students eat at their desks with plastic dividers, both middle and high school students have started
a new block schedule, lab and simulations have started back up, the first fire drill was held, sports started with practices, games and
matches, elections are being held for student government elections, Wydown received the Gold Star award, District Advisory Council
applications are open to all high school students, and discussions have started with elementary and middle school levels to get involved
as well. Schools are starting to feel normal again and students are excited about it.

Action: 9.01 CRSWC Annual Update/Budget FY 2021-22
That the Board of Education approve the Fiscal Year 2022 CRSWC budget as submitted.

2022 calendar year as presented and authorize administration to negotiate and execute contracts for the same.

The board members presented comments about the first week of school.
Ms. Stacy Siwak reported on visiting the schools with Dr. Patel.
Ms. Kim Hurst provided information on the Clayton Education Foundation report, which consists of new committees and Homecoming
activities.
Mr. Gary Pierson reported on being a part of the Wydown Gold Star announcement.
