Board of Aldermen Strategic Discussion Session In-Person and Virtual (Zoom) Meeting June 16, 2023 3:00 p.m.

Board of Aldermen: Mayor Harris, Ira Berkowitz, Bridget McAndrew, Becky Patel, Gary Feder, and Rick Hummell

Staff:

City Manager Gipson and City Clerk June Frazier.

Absent: Alderman Becky Patel

DISCUSSION ON ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICTS

Anna Krane, Director of Planning, presented that Board with a presentation (available in the City Clerk’s office).

No action (vote) was taken.

DISCUSSION ON WASTE COLLECTION ASSISTANCE

City Manager Gipson provided the Board with a presentation on proposed waste collection assistance. (copy available in the City Clerk’s office).

No action (vote) was taken.

Peter Smith, resident, 23 Brighton Way, addressed the Board with comments regarding the proposed Entertainment District. He expressed support for indoor entertainment venues but does not support expansion of the border to the west, or any subsidies especially now in light of the change in trash service.

Mr. Smith commented on the proposed trash assistance and suggested to place a “cap” on the assistance amount.

Motion made by Alderman Berkowitz to adjourn the meeting. Alderman McAndrew seconded.

The motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.

There being no further regular business the meeting adjourned at 4:32 p.m.
