6. Policy

Policy is how a board sustainably exercises its authority to govern. Through policy, school boards establish cohesive guidelines to advance vision into reality. Missouri School Boards Association (MSBA) provides policy services to the School District of Clayton. Periodically, MSBA recommends policy revisions due to legislative changes at the State and Federal levels, or due to precedent setting court rulings.

6.1 1st and 2nd Reading - Policy JFBB: Student Advisor to The Board Policy BF: School Board Policy Process allows for a policy to be presented to the Board of Education with recommended changes and submitted for approval in one reading if necessary. The process for selecting the 2026-2027 Student Representative to the Board requires Policy JFBB: Student Advisor to The Board to be submitted with recommended changes and approval in one reading due to the selection process being scheduled to begin before the next Board meeting will be held.
