Mr. Garcia stated that they could use a different color.
Ron Reim suggested lowering the blade signs to below the canopy, provided that would not result in impeding pedestrians.
Mr. Garcia informed Ron that they are only 7.5-feet above the sidewalk now; lowering them would be a problem.
Ron Reim agreed.
Hearing no further questions or comments, Ron Reim made a motion to approve per staff recommendation 2; and noting that staff will review incidental signs on an administrative basis. The motion was seconded by Josh Corson and unanimously approved by the Board.
Kevin O’Keefe asked about prohibiting signs inside the windows that can be seen outside.
Ryan Karlie, Opus, informed the members that there is language in the lease that addresses signage.

Susan Istenes stated that 110 requests were considered in 2016.
Chairman Lichtenfeld asked if this number was high due to the Centene project.
Susan Istenes replied “no”; noting that there were a lot of additions and alterations last year.
Joanne Boulton commented that this is impressive.
Chairman Lichtenfeld complimented staff on the excellent staff reports that are prepared for them.

Mr. Garcia began a PowerPoint presentation. Slides depicting the various proposed signs were shown along with an explanation of the individual signs. Mr. Garcia noted that they tried to respect the building’s architecture when designing the signs, but also had to consider needs of retail tenants.
Chairman Lichtenfeld stated that overall the signs look good and noted that staff did a thorough report.
Ron Reim stated that he’s okay with allowing more square footage.
Joanne Boulton asked what exactly this Board is being asked to approve this evening.
Chairman Lichtenfeld replied “the whole package”. He noted that the purpose of a sign district is to achieve consistency between tenants. He mentioned that the canopy partially “cuts-off” the top sign.
