April 18, 2023 — Meeting Transcript

This transcript is from the Clayton Plan Commission/Architectural Review Board meeting on April 17–18, 2023. It records roll call, approval of prior meeting minutes, reviews and motions on several architectural items (including an awning sign amendment at 8500 Maryland Avenue and a rear addition and garage renovation on a residence), a continuance for 750 Wenneker Drive, and a staff-led discussion about potential changes to administrative review processes for retaining walls. The excerpts show votes to approve the minutes and to approve the 8500 Maryland Avenue item with staff recommendations, and a motion to continue the 750 Wenneker Drive item; they also mention specific dimensions for proposed features (e.g., a 105 sq ft awning with 24.7 sq ft of graphics, a 1,013 sq ft addition, a 58 sq ft porch, and a 320 sq ft patio).

So we're meeting with the consultants tomorrow to get some of the kickoff in place for the website and whatnot. So hopefully we'll be launching a initial website page by the end of the month. The real heart of the engagement for the public side will be couple months out, because the first few months are going to be spent, the consultant's going to be doing a lot of data gathering and existing conditions analysis to help set up what the engagement will look like. So we'll have this kickoff, but then it will kind of seem a little bit like to the public, the project's gone away, there goes a little dormant, and then we'll have a lot of engagement initiatives kick off in the summer. All the steering committee meetings will be public. Correct. I mean, they'll be housed here. We won't prevent anybody from entering the room if they wanted to sit in on it. That's what I've told people who advance. Right. I mean, we're going to keep the meetings shorter because they're happening during the day and productive. We aren't going to use that meeting time to gain input from anybody from the public who wants to sit on the meeting. There will be plenty of engagement where we can gather feedback from them, but they are free to watch the proceedings, so to speak. Thank you. Brian, anything coming up for the next meeting? Plenty. Plenty. My desk is still a mess, so it's a good time.
