District Announces New Safety Rules for Electric Transportation Devices Beginning with the 2026–27 school year, the School District of Clayton will implement new safety procedures prohibiting electric transportation devices on District property. The new procedures, which take effect July 1, prohibit the use of electric bicycles, motorized bicycles, electric motorized boards and electric scooters on school grounds. The update is part of the District’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe school environments for students, staff and visitors. “While these forms of transportation can offer convenience for students and families, they have also created increasing safety concerns, particularly during busy arrival and dismissal times and among younger riders,” said Michael R. Parkinson, director of safety and security. “Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment remains a top priority, and these new procedures are an important step in helping reduce the risk of future accidents and injuries.” The District is providing advance notice so families have time to plan ahead and make any necessary transportation adjustments before the start of the new school year. Families are encouraged to review this FAQ and discuss the new expectations with their children.
